Edgy

Ubuntu Edgy has been released, and I’ve downloaded and installed it.

The usual tango of backing up and reinstalling the OS, which sucks as a general rule but I stuff around with my machine so much it is always best to give it a clean installation.

This time my tar file had a EOF error and I lost some directories, but luckily not email or documents.

Edgy’s improvements means I don’t need to install the SMP kernel specifically, it picks it up automatically.

The NVIDIA generic driver still is crap and the post install script for the binary driver fucks up X so I’ll avoid that in future.

I wish there was an easy way to migrate/upgrade Evolution email as the current method of copying one’s .evolution file is shite.

Other than that, Edgy is great. The startup and shutdown are very fast.

I had to reinstall Citrix and followed the instructions here http://keystoneit.wordpress.com/2006/03/21/citrix-client-install-for-ubuntu/
